3. ANIMAL STUDIES
Animal work helps actors discover physical choices outside their personal habits.
Exercise A: Animal Observation
Explore one of the following, or choose one that best suits a character you're trying to develop or explore:
  • Hawk
  • Wolf
  • Cat
  • Gorilla
  • Horse
  • Snake
Answer:
  • Where is its focus?
  • How does it move?
  • What part leads?
  • How does it react to danger?
Then, physically embody it.

Exercise B: Animal to Human
Start as the animal and gradually evolve into the human.
Keep:
  • Posture
  • Energy
  • Rhythm
Lose:
  • Literal imitation
For example:

A hawk might become a sharp, observant detective.
A bear might become a powerful football coach.
