1. NEUTRAL BODY WORK
The goal is to strip away habitual mannerisms so actors can make conscious physical choices.
Exercise A: The Neutral Walk
Simply walk around the room. (Use a dance room with a mirror or an observer to point out "habits", if possible; however, it is not necessary.)
Instructions:
  • Feet under hips
  • Arms relaxed
  • Eyes forward
  • No character
  • No attitude
  • No story
Whenever you notice a habit (head tilt, shoulder tension, bouncing, swagger), correct it.
Ask yourself: "What is left when I remove all of my habits?"

Exercise B: Physical Reset
Start neutral and slowly add:
  • Age
  • Occupation
  • Energy level
  • Secret
  • Objective
One element at a time.
You will learn to build a character intentionally rather than randomly.
